The HUB Story

For many years, Hilltop Urban Church has partnered with other ministries and community groups to reach out to the Hilltop neighborhood and beyond.  For several years, some of us have been wondering, "What if we could give our building a name that would communicate that we want our building to be a gathering place for everyone in the community, responding not only to spiritual needs, but all kinds of needs?  Would more people come here?  Would more partner organizations share the building with us?"  We had fantasized about a shopping mall type sign that listed the ministries and programs operating out of the building.

In the spring of 2015, a businessman who has childhood memories of the Hilltop neighborhood contacted us with a simple question:  "How can I use my business skills to make life better for the people who live in Hilltop?"  When he heard of our desire to open our building to more 

partners that share our mission of serving the people of Hilltop and the surrounding neighbhorhoods, and the idea of giving the building a name that would be even more welcoming, he responded:  "If your leaders want to build that sign, I'll raise the funds for it."

After a couple of months of discussion, the church's leaders decided to take the businessman up on his offer, and the board voted to nickname our building The HUB, which stands for The Hilltop Urban Building.  The HUB logo was created and on October 11, 2015, the new sign was dedicated.  

 Our prayer is that even more groups whose missions align with ours will join us soon.
